October 21, 2007: A visitor comments that "FYI,
while the people are SUPER nice at Ward's Farm in Ridgewood NJ, it's
really more like pumpkins for sale on the side of the highway.
There is no corn maze and the "petting zoo" is 2 goats. Again, the
people are great, the pumpkins are nice. But, it's definitely not a
"farm" that you'd make a special trip to - like we did :) "

We are also a
CSA, which stands for Community Supported Agriculture. The basic
idea of CSA farming is a cooperative relationship between the
farmer and his customers. Based on an annual commitment to
one another, community members provide a pre-season payment
to purchase a share of the harvest . The member
then receives a weekly box of a wide variety of fresh
vegetables and fruit through the growing season, harvested at
the peak of ripeness and flavor. (UPDATED: September 9, 2023, JBS) (UPDATED: May 23, 2016)
A visitor writes on
October 27, 2010: "We chose to go to the Alstede Farm in Morris
county and it was a great choice. Very affordable and they had a lot
for the kids to do and my kids are toddlers. While my kids were too
small for some things, they had a tractor pulled hayride for all,
child-size wagon ride, pumpkin patches, pony rides, food, hay
tunnels, hay stacks to climb on, and moon bounce. I'm probably
forgetting some things I saw there. The people working there were
very friendly and patient. Large crowd but lines moved well. Lots of
space to just play around - my kids had fun just running up and down
a hill! They also fed farm animals. We had a blast there and spent
most of the day there, which was far longer than I expected. Worth
the hour drive there. Highly recommended farm! "

A visitor writes on September 17, 2010: "We had a
great time at Conklin Farm. It had all the amenities of the big
farms out west without having to travel so far. Everything seemed
well kept and everyone was really friendly. We look forward to going
back this year. "
A visitor writes on October 23, 2009: "While, I like Conklin
Farm, be prepared to spend a lot of money. Everything costs money
separately. It cost $4.00 for per face paint and the girl just air
brushed a small stencil on their faces. The entire bottle of paint
she used probably costs less than $4.00. It was $2.00 per person
just to enter the corn maze which was not well maintained. The hay
ride was a waste because it just brought you to one end of the farm
and back, we were on it for less than 5 minutes. Next year, I will
do a bit more research and find a farm that does not charge for
everything like that. Between 3 pumpkins, snack, 1 Mum, and doing
all the activities for 3 people, I spent close to $100.00 that day."

Wrightman Farms Facebook page. (UPDATED: August 8, 2022, JBS)
2022 Price update: there is a One-time PYO
membership" Entry fee * of $10.00/Person Ages 3 & Up. this is good for the entire season (Pay once & pick often)! the entry fee grants you
access to the picking areas based on seasonality. sign up early! the one-time "membership fee" offer ends on august 31st. after august 31st
it's $10.00 per visit (If you bought the membership then you do not have to pay again). the membership is good for entry for the entire
season.
A visitor
writes on October 18, 2010: "My family of four wanted to visit a
Pumpkin Patch this weekend and weren't sure where to go, so I
stumbled upon your site and after reading through the great list of
Farms in New Jersey, we visited Wightman's Farm yesterday
(10/17/10). We had a good time, there is no entrance fee, however,
you do need a membership to enter the fields to pick pumpkins and
apples. We did not purchase a membership, but there are other areas
for non-membership persons to pick apples and pumpkins off the
ground. They are good apples and pumpkins, but the pumpkins are not
large at all. 2010 fees for apples are $1.19 per pound and for
pumpkins $0.59 cents per pound. If you want to enter the mazes
areas, you need a wrist band for that as well. The mazes were pretty
cool, they have rope maze with a bell in the center, a stone maze
that is pretty cool, a paver maze that you should only make right
hand turns to get to the center and the corn field maze is the
hardest of all, you definitely get lost if you don't have the map
and you need to reach the center to get to the flag. For people that
might have an issue with claustrophobia, please do not enter the
corn field maze as it will certainly trigger the anxiety after a
while and that wouldn't be a good thing. There is an $8.00 per
person fee for the Tractor Hayride which includes a free small to
medium sized pumpkin. There is an area in front of the store where
you can choose and buy pumpkins and flowers and if you go into the
store, they have tons of fresh produce, apple cider, a large variety
of jams and jellies and lots of other great grocery items for
purchase, some at decent prices. I did feel that they were short
staffed and they do have a "Hiring" Sign on the door to the store.
This place is large and can be a great day out for family and
friends. It is packed though, so keep your kids in sight. They
really do need to hire more employees, because there really is no
direction. You can't tell who is an employee and who isn't, unless
they are behind a register and those people are so busy you really
don't want to start asking them questions and causing more craziness
with the lines. There is a kiosk in front of the Cider Mill where
you need to purchase the wrist bands and tickets to enter the
hayrides and mazes and the line was so long, that it wasn't worth
the worth, after that line you have to wait on even longer line to
get on the hayride. People that did not have wrist bands were enter
the maze area because no one was monitoring the entrance. So there
are some positives and negatives, but overall, we had a good time
and bought lots of stuff; sweet corn, candle apples, pumpkins,
apples, jellies and jams. If you want to do everything, i.e.,
hayride and mazes, get there early and plan to spend time and money
and someone does answer the phone, so feel free to call them to ask
anything I haven't covered. BTW parking isn't an issue either. Oh,
and thank you for your Website!"
A visitor writes (September 17, 2007): "Wightman's
charges $11 per family (up to 5) entrance fee. Then you pay for the
apples, peaches per pound ($1.09 this weekend). They have a hayride
$8 (or $7 with the $11 ticket), maze extra ticket..."
A visitor writes on October 27, 2008: "I went there with my
family and friends and we had a blast. For $8 each we went on a fun
hayride to the pumpkin patch (even though you can just walk there)
through the orchards and then you also receive 1 pumkin per person.
The people there were really nice and there were loads of fun things
to do for all the kids ages 1-5. Plus the market food was delicious.
I highly recommend this farm!"

grow their own corn, lettuce, tomatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, green beans
and squash. They also offer fresh mozzarella, fruit, flowers and jams. Hours
vary by season but in spring and summer open 7 days a week. I like it a lot
as it is close and their corn, lettuce and fresh basil are fantastic!"
