roadside stands. Most have loads of pumpkins to choose from. To really make it
fun for your kids, look for those that have the extra activities, like a corn
maze, spook house, or hayride. There is usually a small fee for the mazes (of
course, the more elaborate mazes tend to charge more. Hayrides are often free.

Conducted every September since 1975, our tractor-drawn apple orchard hayrides and pumpkin patch hayrides take you to the pumpkin patch where everyone
gets to pick a pumpkin.
Beginning October 1st and lasting through the month of October, days and times for pumpkin patch hayrides are:

here. Corn maze is open every year from Labor Day to early November. The farm is open Monday-Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm year round with educational tours and
programs, and special events to include the Amazing Maze, the Loch Norman
Highland Games, the Battle of Cowan's Ford reenactment, and the Sheep Dog
Trials. The farm is still an active farm with a variety of crops being planted
annually to include wheat, soy bean, and small gardens which include tomatoes,
squash, beans, corn, and okra. There are also animals to see on site. Rural Hill
Farm is a 265 acre historic farm dating back to 1760 and remained in the family
of Major John Davidson for six consecutive generations. It is the oldest and
largest public historic site in Mecklenburg County. There are currently no
vegetables visitors can pick and purchase, but there are future plans to provide
such an activity. Rural Hill hosts a
1760 style
Thanksgiving living history event of the Colonial era which includes skilled
craftsmen and artisan demonstrations and militia soldiers performing various
drills and maneuvers. Other activities to see are
18th century children's games, musket firing demonstrations and open
hearth Colonial style cooking, which the ladies will be preparing an actual
Thanksgiving dinner. One of the premiere
demonstrations of the weekend is an actual log cabin raising, which volunteers
work throughout the Fall to construct by hand. Rural Hill

Historic Rural Hill Farm was the home of Major
John Davidson, American patriot and signer of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence. Today the 265
acre historic plantation stands as a memorial to early American agriculture and has become a cultural center

strollers and wagons are welcome. Maps are given to visitors to
guide you through the maze and employees are in and out to verify on
you. For an extra adventure, try the maze at NIGHT! (Bring a
flashlight) Picnic Area: We have plenty of Picnic areas. Feel free
to bring your own food. In our General Store you will find sodas,
