This page provides a
detailed list of Arizona's pumpkin patches, corn mazes, hay rides
and other Halloween farm stuff!! Just scroll down this
page! Some are farms, where you take a hay ride out into the field, others are elaborate farm stands with mountains of pumpkins and other activities and some
are simple roadside stands. All should have loads of pumpkins to choose
from. To really make it fun for your kids, look for those that have
the extra activities, like a corn maze, spook house, or hayride. There is
usually a small fee for the mazes (of course, the more elaborate mazes
tend to charge more. Hayrides are often free.
ALWAYS call before you go to confirm all information, they don't always report changes to me!
We have loads of related resources
here, too.
On our Pick-your-own website, we also have pages with our own
simple
instructions on canning, freezing and drying many other fruits and
vegetables, such as how to make jam, apple
butter, applesauce, spaghetti
sauce, salsa, pickles,
ketchup or freezing
corn (these links open new pages, just close them to return here). Be sure to come back at Christmas if you are looking
for a cut-your-own Christmas tree farm!
Look at the bottom of the page for links to resources on home canning, picking
tips, recipes, etc..
I'm always looking for
more to add and feedback about any patch, stand or farm you have visited, so write me using the Feedback
form! And if you have
a farm and want to add it or correct the information, please click on Add My Farm!

A visitor writes on October 27, 2006: "They do
not allow the public to do U-Pick Veggies during October. Their website says
nothing about any restrictions regarding the U-Pick garden - but the gal
behind the counter informed us that we weren't allowed to enter the garden
and pick anything because they needed to save the veggies for the kids that
are there on school field trips. I'm home schooling my son, and asked her if
that even made a difference in the restriction - it did not. I asked
when do they begin letting the public pick - she wasn't completely sure -
but figured sometime in Nov. "
Comment from another visitor, October 22, 2007: "...They
advertise all kinds of things you can pick, but when you get there the only
thing available is cucumber. We drove an hour only to be treated rudely when
we expected what was advertised and a high price for the entrance and the so
called "pick em" This used to be a great family farm for the October
festivities, but the only thing I have seen in the last few years from them
have been higher prices and less offered."
Another visitor writes on October 28, 2007: "I
agree with the person who wrote in on October 22, Tolmachoff farm used
to be a great place to take your family to. Recently they have
started to charge for entrance (more than is reasonable for their
size), also they have unreasonably high prices and not a lot to
offer, however some of the things they do offer are interesting for
young children. "
A visitor writes on February 1,
2008: "I also visited in October, during the fall
festival. I didn't find the entrance fee unreasonable or any
employees rude, and we had a blast! Especially our 8 year old
daughter. The farm had a petting zoo, bounce houses, 2 corn mazes, a
kid's 'train' ride, a tricycle racing area, and some kids playground
equipment. The pumpkins were a little expensive, but the rest of the
goods in the market were reasonable. We bought preserves, apple
butter, and one big pumpkin."
A visitor writes on September 04, 2008: "I
just read some of the comments on your site and I wanted to let you
know that we have gone to the farm for many years and enjoy
everything they have to offer and everyone is so friendly. They
offer activities for children of all ages, we have many great
memories of the farm. Each year they add more & more we will
continue to go every year, our 4 year old son would not come out of
the corn box "what a blast". We are looking forward to this up
coming season. Sincerly, Cindy"
A visitor writes on September 05, 2008: "I
have been a customer of Tolmachoff Farms for many years!! Every year
seems to get better and better! My children have such a terrific
time when we have visited!! From the petting zoo, to the train ride
and the wonderful vegetable garden and large assortment of pumpkins,
YOU just couldn't ask for more!!!!!!! The employees have always been
courteous and very helpful when it comes to providing us with
information about the farm or any general questions we have had.
They are very professional. The best time to visit the farm is in
October when they have so many fun activities!!! The haunted corn
maze its definitely our favorite, not to mention a low admission
cost which is also a great deal!! A lot of the other haunted mazes
in town can be twice as much if not more!!!!! Definitely would
recommend this farm experience to any family wanting to have some
good fun for a great price!! You can tell this is a real FAMILY RUN
farm, it definitely shows!!! "
A visitor writes on September 14, 2008:
"we love tolmachoff farms, when their sweet corn and vineripe
tomatoes are in season they are the best in this state. we can't
wait for this pumpkin season its so much fun."
A visitor writes on October 12, 2008:
"The bestest simply the bestest. I love the pumkins and scarecrow.
I'm gonna go every year for the rest of my life. Yeah! I can't life
without Tolmachoff's pumkin patch."
A visitor writes on October 21, 2008:
"People need to start appreciating the farms we have left and the
hard work they put in. Children are clueless on the production of
food now days and Tolmachoff Farms provides a great environment for
that. We support you and your family!"
A visitor writes on October 25, 2008:
"Just wanted to say that today (10/25/08)myself(29), my niece(17),
and my son(17mths)visited the Tolmachoff farm and had an awesome
time.. Between the mazes, fresh hot kettle corn, animals, fresh
produce, preserves, and of course the pumpkin patch, our day was
nothing like the other comments i've seen left about this farm. That
includes the price or the attitude of employees around the property.
With all the things i could have choosen to do today w/ my niece,
who will be going off to college next fall, the 3 of us had the best
time rompin through those mazes having the best time laughing w/
each other.. On top of all that the prices are not bad at all, the
pumpkins are only 2 bucks or so more, and twice as big!!! Thank you
Tolmachoff family for a day they may never think twice about, but
one i will definetly never forget!! "
Has anyone else got any experiences to share, positive or negative?
Write me! It
sounds like people have fun there, just call first to confirm that
what you want is available and that you are ok with the pricing.

not go to this farm last year, but for several years before we had. However,
the last time we went the farm did NOT grow pumpkins, but had them trucked
in from Mexico and then laid them out in the field. The huge shipping
containers could be seen in the back areas, and there were no vines and no
pumpkins growing out of the ground."
Blake: I've heard that many farms grow pumpkins in a field,
but if the crop does poorly or they run out, they truck in pumpkins to
provide a larger selection and better experience for the customers.

Comment from a visitor, October 5, 2008: "I took my family to an "authentic" farm today!! After so many other farms have
closed (Young's, Cooke's and Collier), we were happy to find this. We picked
pumpkins off of the vine, played in a real corn maze and petted farm animals
that looked happy and healthy!! Horses liked petting too!! Plus we went on a
hayride on a old tractor!! Owners were friendly and informative. Very laid back
atmosphere, no big crowds, our kids could explore, NOT carnival-like!! Had some
great chili, roasted corn, and AWESOME brownies and pumpkin cookies!! We will
make this trek an annual event for our family! Nice drive from Phx.
